The definition of Terrorism
From the Army Operations Field Manual:
terrorism
The calculated use of unlawful violence or threat of unlawful violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological.
Now, the attack at Fort Hood was both:
- A “calculated use of unlawful violence.”
- “Intended to coerce or intimidate” both our government and our society in the pursuit of Islamic religious goals.
Therefore, why does our media and government avoid calling it what it really is – terrorism?

CNN video: Fort Hood terrorist justified suicide bombing
A fellow student of Nidal Malik Hasan announced on CNN that the Fort Hood shooter gave a powerpoint presentation justifying suicide bombing, and the Army apparently did nothing about it.
But why would they? Islam is the Religion of Peace!

Hezbollah Prepared to Hold the US Hostage
A Middle East terrorism expert has warned that Iran may use a terrorist group to strike the United States if it becomes threatened. “If Iran’s regime is in trouble, either from the outside or even from a democratic uprising, it may order Hezbollah to attack the U.S.” said Dr. Walid Phares during an appearance on FOX News last week.
This reiterates what Hezbollah themselves have said. “We have 2,000 volunteers who have registered since last year,” Hezbollah spokesman Mojtaba Bigdeli told Reuters in a 2006 interview. “They have been trained and they can become fully armed. We are ready to dispatch them to every corner of the world to jeopardize Israel and America’s interests. We are only waiting for the supreme leader’s green light to take action. If America wants to ignite World War III … we welcome it.”

More on US raid into Somalia
Bill Roggio at Long War Journal has more details on the U.S. special forces raid into southern Somalia to kill al Qaeda leader Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan. Roggio reports that “Nabhan is thought to train terrorists in Somalia and has been at the forefront in cementing ties between Shabaab and al Qaeda.”
Originally, eyewitnesses reported that the helicopters and troops were French.
The operation, dubbed Celestial Balance, was approved 11 days ago after US intelligence determined that Nabhan was shuttling back and forth between the Shabaab-controlled port cities of Merka and Kismayo. A car transporting Nabhan and five other foreign fighters was escorted by another car carrying three Shabaab escorts; the vehicles were hit as they stopped for breakfast as they traveled to Kismayo.
According to one witness, upwards of six helicopters were involved in the raid. At least two AH-6 Little Bird special operations attack helicopters strafed the two-car convoy. Other helicopters dismounted Navy SEALs, who seized the body of Nabhan and another, and purportedly took two other wounded fighters captive. An unconfirmed report indicated that Sheikh Hussein Ali Fidow, a senior Shabaab leader, was among those killed.

SEALs kill top Somali terrorist
Finally, some decisive action from the president. Ten days ago, Obama signed an Execute Order against Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, a terrorist with the al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab group.
Navy SEALs conducted a raid in southern Somalia which killed Nabhan – one of the FBI’s most wanted terrorists. Nabhan was wanted for his role in a 2002 suicide attack against an Israeli-owned hotel in Mombasa, Kenya, and an unsuccessful surface-to-air missile attack against an Israeli Boeing 757 airliner. He was also wanted for the 1998 U.S. Embassy attacks in Kenya.
From FOX News:
Ten days ago President Obama signed the Execute Order for Nabhan, who since 2006 was on the FBI’s list of most wanted terrorists. He was also wanted for the attacks on the U.S. Embassy in Kenya in 1998.
They called it operation Celestial Balance: at least two AH-6 Little Bird helicopters deployed from one of two U.S. Navy vessels near Somalia’s coast strafed a vehicle Nabhan was using to go back and forth between meetings.
Intelligence operatives had been monitoring Sabhan prior to the attack. The helicopters passed once, firing on the vehicle, and then circled back around to retrieve the body so they could make a positive identification, according to an official.

Still confused 8 years later
Walid Phares’ op-ed on 9/11 is definitely worth reading:
In no conflict throughout history were people still confused about the threat eight years after hostilities began. For America, neither WWI nor WWII had lasted half that long. And in those wars we not only achieved victory in that time, but we knew long before that – with crystalline precision – who our foes were and what we had to do to defeat them.
How is it that many Americans are still confused eight years on? Because while the media has no problems showing footage of American troops dying (which they somehow obtain from the terrorists) they forbid showing footage of the World Trade Center. That might whip Americans into a patriotic frenzy and make us question why we haven’t been allowed to do squat to turn the tide against the terrorists.
Democrat politicians feel that any mention of 9/11 is a dirty Republican trick as they have fully invested themselves in the defeat of our military – to the point that sick, politically-correct Rules of Engagement deny our fighting forces air and artillery support – even if that unit is being overrun. No words can describe the anger I feel towards politicians and the activist, state-run media on this day each year.
Our military sacrifices so much, and we have only them to thank as they have been left flapping in the breeze by two administrations for eight years now. They have fought the Islamic terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other countries that many Americans couldn’t find on a map for years, and what progress they have made has been despite the best efforts of gutless politicians in Washington.
If we want to fight the Islamic terrorists with our military, then the U.S. had better get its collective head out of the sand and realize who our enemy is and their intentions. If not, we will resume fighting them with firefighters, police officers, and other emergency workers. The casualties won’t be senior al Qaeda and Taliban leaders, they will be innocent women and children as they were eight years ago. That is unacceptable.

Obama’s AG pick, and why we should flick
It would be worthwhile to point out who Barack Obama is nominating as Attorney General. Eric Holder was the Deputy AG under Janet Reno in Bill Clinton’s administration.
Under Holder’s watch, Holder facilitated PardonGate – where Clinton pardoned some interesting and dangerous characters. Two of the most heinous, Marc Rich and the FALN terrorists, are mentioned in National Review (emphasis mine):
Marc Rich, a billionaire, had been indicted of 65 counts of tax evasion and arms-dealing with Iran. He fled to Switzerland, where he lived an extravagant lifestyle. Holder personally worked with Rich’s attorney to get the pardon directly to then-president Clinton. Holder made clear that he did not oppose the pardon, while Rich’s wife was giving over $400,000 to the Clinton Library. She also raised significant money for the Democratic party and Hillary Clinton’s Senate race. President Clinton granted the pardon.
Now here’s how pardons are supposed to work:
The Justice Department Office of Pardon Counsel (OPC) evaluates requests for a presidential pardon. OPC considers evidence that the conviction was wrong or the sentence unjust, usually requiring a convicted person to have served five years of their prison sentence.
Then you have the terrorists (Marxist revolutionaries founded and supported by Cuba):
Sixteen terrorists of the FALN group were imprisoned for felonies involving bombs, guns, robbery, and sedition. But in 1999, Eric Holder facilitated President Clinton commuting their sentences.
By nominating Eric Holder to AG, Barack Obama has put his stamp of approval on Holder’s past actions. But that was then, this is now (emphasis mine):
Holder signed onto a brief earlier this year reaffirming his long-held position that the Second Amendment confers no rights whatsoever to private citizens, and that the Supreme Court should have upheld D.C.’s absolute ban on handguns, even in homes. Holder also has far-left views on unrestricted abortion, and opposes the death penalty. And, in a war on terror, Holder believes that all the rights that U.S. citizens have in civilian courts should be extended to foreign terrorists captured abroad.
Change we can believe in.

Why Wars and Lawyers Don’t Mix
The most deadly weapon facing our armed forces is the improvised explosive device, or IED. These modern-day landmines account for 40% of U.S. fatalities in Iraq.
The Pentagon is seeking to marginalize the threat posed by IEDs. As our government is finally supplying our troops with better protected mine-resistant vehicles, a small army of robots, bomb dogs, sensors, reconnaissance drones, and good old-fashioned raids are putting terrorist IED cells out of business.
But with more troops downrange as part of the “surge” strategy, IED casualties are at their highest levels over the past few months. The terrorists are fighting the most advanced army on earth with spare explosives and $10 worth of parts from the hardware store.
The new MRAP vehicles and door-to-door raids are great, but how about fixing IEDs before they even become a problem?
Well, Uncle Sam tried to do exactly that in 2004. The CIA believed that there may only be 11 manufacturers assembling IEDs. They knew that if they sabotaged the bomb-making process, say with booby-trapped detonators designed to blow up the guy making the bomb, they could seriously cripple the IED threat.
But wait – there’s lawyers. The CIA General Counsel said that the CIA lacked the authority to make it happen. Who has the authority? Someone does. What are they afraid of?
Since the beginning of 2005, 1277 of our finest Americans have lost their lives to IED attacks. Thousands more have been wounded. Whoever has the authority seriously dropped the ball. If we are at war, and militant Islam seems to think we are, it is time to start acting like it.
