Yet another case of left-wing terrorism
Terrorism must be stopped regardless of what ideology commits it. It is a sad day for liberty when the Department of Homeland Security polarizes terrorism into right- and left-wing, then falsely portrays the attacks as having been conducted by their political opponents.
While researching for an article, I learned that the Holocaust Museum shooter from back in June was actually a left-winger, not the right-winger the media portrayed. And how many folks bought that lie? Jonah Goldberg writes:
A few months ago, an anti-Semitic old nut named James von Brunn allegedly took a gun to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum to get payback against “the Jews” and killed a black security guard in the process.
In response to this horrific crime, the leading lights of American liberalism knew who was to blame: Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and the GOP. One writer for the Huffington Post put it succinctly: “Thank you very much Karl Rove and your minions.”
The fact that Von Brunn was a 9/11 “truther” who railed against capitalism, neocons, and the Bush administration didn’t matter. Nor did the glaring lack of evidence that Rove et al. ever showed antipathy for the museum. It was simply obvious that Von Brunn was the offspring of the “right-wing extremism (that) is being systematically fed by the conservative media and political establishment,” wrote columnist Paul Krugman.
What puts me at a loss for words is the fact that although the infamous DHS report warned of right-wing extremists – and these attacks couldn’t be further from conservatives – the state-run media are suggesting that these attacks have made Janet Napolitano into some sort of visionary.
The Nazis had the Jews; Islamic supremacists have the U.S. and Israel; the Soviet Union had the U.S. and the capitalist West – each tyranny has to have a villain on which to focus the hate of their followers.
In the age of Obama, we have Conservatives.

Obama is now after your kids’ summer vacation
Bend over, here it comes again America! Obama “wants schools to add time to classes, to stay open late and to let kids in on weekends so they have a safe place to go.”
Weekends, longer days, no summer vacation? When exactly are parents supposed to have their children?
Obama’s insatiable appetite of freedom apparently includes our children’s summer vacation as well. We learn from this Associated Press propaganda piece (via Yahoo! News) that it’s what other countries do, so being “global citizens, we will too:
Obama and [Education secretary Arne Duncan] say kids in the United States need more school because kids in other nations have more school.
“Young people in other countries are going to school 25, 30 percent longer than our students here,” Duncan told the AP. “I want to just level the playing field.”
Did our children perform so well previously because we had longer school days? SHOOT NO! The inconvenient truth for Obama and his merry band of statists is that school actually taught our children something in previous decades. Education was actually important, and there wasn’t any federal involvement.
But wait – we actually spend MORE time than countries that outperform us.
Kids in the U.S. spend more hours in school (1,146 instructional hours per year) than do kids in the Asian countries that persistently outscore the U.S. on math and science tests — Singapore (903), Taiwan (1,050), Japan (1,005) and Hong Kong (1,013).
The AP then threw this in to cover their trail, though (thus earning the title ‘propaganda piece’).
Regardless, there is a strong case for adding time to the school day.
In the U.S., there are many examples of gains when time is added to the school day.
Several schools are going year-round by shortening summer vacation and lengthening other breaks.
Many schools are going beyond the traditional summer school model…
Notably absent is any criticism. This is not journalism, this is state-run media!

Is the press politicizing Medal of Honor ceremonies?
I almost didn’t post this, but it wasn’t sitting well with me at all.
As I researched the coverage of Sergeant First Class Jared C. Monti’s posthumous Medal of Honor ceremonies, I couldn’t help but notice that the press made Barack Obama the focus rather than SFC Monti’s heroic sacrifice. Many stories had Obama in the title, the lede, and even images of SFC Monti in Afghanistan were named after Obama, not the man who gave his life for our freedom.

President Barack Obama posthumously awards Army Sgt. 1st. Class Jared C. Monti from Raynham, Mass., the Medal of Honor for his service in Afghanistan, to his parents Paul and Janet Monti, Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, in the East Room of the White House in Washington. (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak)
I hoped that the press followed the same procedures for Medal of Honor ceremonies during George Bush’s tenure in office, but news searches of Bruce Crandall (living) and Michael Murphy (posthumous) revealed that the press’ focus was on the recipients, not President Bush.
I hate to bring this up when we should be celebrating SFC Monti’s life and sacrifice (and I thank God that this country produces sons like Jared C. Monti), but such events are NOT opportunities for politicians to increase their approval rating. I would like to give this administration and the media the benefit of the doubt, but the media long ago abandoned any sense of objectivity regarding this president.
Please, let’s keep the focus on the sacrifice of Jared C. Monti, his family, and the men and women of the armed forces who willingly sacrifice everything in order to defend our freedom and Constitution.

White House threatens to sick press corps on bank?
A leading bankruptcy attorney (and Democratic donor) Thomas Lauria claimed that the White House threatened the investment bank Perella Weinberg Partners that it would sick the press corps on them if they opposed Obama’s plans.
Audio here from NewsTalk 760 on the Frank Beckmann show.
Mark Whittington at Associated Content writes:
Steve Rattner, the leader of the Obama administration’s Auto Industry Task Force, threatened one of the firms, an investment bank, that if it continued to oppose the administration’s Chrysler bankruptcy plan, the White House would use the White House press corps to destroy its reputation.
The plan would require creditors to accept 29 cents on the dollar for the $6.8 billion owed by Chrysler.
The scary thing here is that if what Lauria is saying is true, the media are now a quasi-official arm of the state. It goes (or rather went) without saying that the press corps are not working for the White House.
Both Perella Weinberg Partners and the White House deny Lauria’s charges.
Maybe Obama missed the fact that the Marine Corps are at his disposal, NOT the press corps.
