Military Roundup
Get out your flags! Today is National Medal of Honor Day. On this day in 1863, the first Medals were awarded. And as a reminder, the 2010 Medal of Honor convention will be held in Charleston, S.C. from Sept. 29 – Oct. 30.
Osama bin Laden threatened to kill more Americans if al Qaeda detainees are executed (as if he wouldn’t have done so otherwise).

Private security contractors have killed a Somali pirate for the first time.
This week in U.S. military history
An al Qaeda group in Indonesia has been kind enough to clear up the confusion about whether Jihad is peaceful or violent (the Qur’an also covers this matter – see for yourself).

New Evidence of Saddam-bin Laden Connection
We didn’t invade Iraq because of 9/11 and we didn’t invade because of Saddam’s connections to Islamic terrorists. But he was connected. And many don’t realize, but we had been authorized to attack Iraq previously by Congress.
Ryan Mauro writes at Pajamas Media:
The lead prosecutor of Saddam Hussein, Ja’far al-Musawi, says that he has seen official documents that prove that his regime was involved with Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri. Last year, a Kurdish newspaper published an Iraqi intelligence document from 2002 referencing a proposed meeting with al-Zawahiri to discuss a “revenge operation” against Saudi Arabia at Saddam Hussein’s request. If previous ties had not been maintained and if there was such hostility between the secularist government of Saddam and al-Qaeda as is assumed, such a plan would never have been hatched by Saddam or been acted upon by his intelligence service.
A source at the Iraq Memory Foundation, which is going through thousands of files to document Saddam Hussein’s reign, has reported that they have seen documents showing a link between Saddam and al-Qaeda.

American Muslims to Ft. Hood terrorist: ‘We Love You”
They also praise the 9/11 attacks and Osama bin Laden. And they are Americans.
The problem is that what these so-called “radicals” say is supported in the Qur’an. When is America going to wake up and realize that this is not a problem that will go away when we bury our heads in the sand?

Osama bin Laden on Shariah Law
Muslims, and especially the learned among them, should spread sharia law to the world–that and nothing else. Not laws under the “umbrella of justice, morality, and rights” as understood by the masses. No, the sharia of Islam is the foundation.
They say that our sharia does not impose our particular beliefs upon others; this is a false assertion. For it is, in fact, part of our religion to impose our particular beliefs upon others.
Thus whoever refuses the principle of terror[ism] against the enemy also refuses the commandment of Allah the Exalted, the Most High, and His sharia.

Are we even TRYING to catch bin Laden anymore?
The search for Osama bin Laden has been farmed out to Pashtun spies run by the ISI – the Pakistani intel service that created the Taliban. Conflict of interest? Instead of actually accomplishing anything, the ISI handlers keep our spooks prison-like conditions staring at computer monitors.
I don’t think our politicians are willing to do anything but to just have a presence overseas. Killing bin Laden may not bring about the end of al Qaeda, but it sure as heck would be a great propaganda victory for the U.S. – something neither of the last two administrations seem willing to do.
From the Times of London:
When a senior al-Qaeda figure was identified and located — Mr Keller said that it would take weeks, often months, to build a case for an airstrike by a US Predator drone — and even if the go-ahead was finally given by CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, the Pakistanis still had to approve. “Since 9/11, with 99 per cent of these strikes, the Pakistanis were consulted and they have to approve them,” he said.
99% of air strikes are given with approval from a government that is doing its best to keep this guy hidden. Why do you think that Pakistan waits for months to give approval for air strikes? Because the target is long gone. What Mickey Mouse political appointee makes these decisions? This is BS! No wonder why Michael Scheuer is pissed off.

This is how it’s done
Here’s a recent exchange from the Washington Times comments:
From a “proud Iranian Muslim” (excerpt):
You deliberately and erroneously try to imply the world infidel which initially Osama Bin Laden used to describe the Americans stationed in Saudi Arabia, to project what Muslims use to describe Americans. That is incorrect. However, Osama correctly used that word to label the Americans in the holiest lands of Islam. The Americans had no right to be in Saudi Arabia except for mere self interests and profiteering.
Now here’s the response:
Why is it ok to label Americans in the holy land of Islam? Isn’t that a supremacist notion of what is correct and what is wrong? It seems disingenuous to expect Americans to bend over backward to understand Muslim concerns and consider how not to offend Muslims, but then find it correct to “label” Americans anything but the freedom fighters and food providers of the world.
Honestly, it no longer shocks me that every other terrorist in the world is named Muhammad. So, with respect Muslims, I reject your right to label me in your holy land or anywhere else…Why? Because America is my holy land…it is a land that allows individual rights and individual freedom to innovate and utilize reason and reject violence that we might live to create rather than aspire to destruction. In this holy land of America, we don’t seek to label you, Muslim…but your supremacisms know no bounds…you seek equality while calling us naive…you call us naive while seeking understanding.
My holy land, this city on a hill, this land of an American Spirit and Dream…in this holy land, we have an establishment clause. That clause in our constitution is far more advanced than your Koran could ever be, for it protects citizens from the clerical fascisms possible when the ulema type organization wrangles power and forces your empty mind to accept its “Correct” reading of things. Indeed, the rights of the individual are primary in America…the rights of ALLAH will always be secondary in this holy land. So, think on that Muslim – friend. Think on that Islamic Supremacist. Think on the fact that in this land, in this land of liberty, the right to be a Muslim is restricted to the Mosque – the State and the people have the right to drive Islam’s advances back over and over as a matter of reason. If it is correct for Americans to be called “infidels” when in Saudi Arabia…then it is correct for Muslims to be called “Supremacists” whether in Saudi Arabia or not.

MSA President on bin Laden, polygamy, and Jihad
“War in Iraq or Afghanistan or Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein. Don’t ever compromise on Islam! And don’t ever compromise on your Muslim brothers and sisters in which you have no evidence. Osama bin Laden- I don’t know this guy. I don’t know what he did. I don’t know what he said. I don’t know what happened. But we defend Muslim brothers and we defend our Muslim sisters to the end. Is that clear? I am not saying support terrorist acts. I am not saying any of that. I am saying generally speaking. If a man comes and robs a store – if you’re going to rob the store, go ahead and rob the store, are we going to condemn him? No, you support your Muslim brothers whether it is right or wrong. When they do wrong you grab them and you slap some sense into them, you’re doing wrong. You see what I am saying.
“So you never compromise on your faith. You be confident in every aspect of life. In every aspect of Islam you are confident. Four wives? Yes men are allowed to have four wives within this context. Jihad? Yes Jihad! Jihad is the tightest thing in Islam. Don’t compromise on these little things. Be proud of it. Why? Because Islam is a perfect religion. If you sit here and you start saying, ‘Jihad is only an internal this and that,’ you are compromising on your faith.”
- Amir Mertaban, president of Muslim Students Association West, in a 2007 speech called “Methods of Da’wah.” The conference was held at UC-Berkeley. Audio
