Sen. Schumer’s idea of “Fair and Balanced”
Here comes trouble – Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) is already revving up the Fairness Doctrine in an interview on Fox News (the news organization that Democrats despise), where he said, “I think we should all be fair and balanced, don’t you?”
Let’s not kid ourselves. When Democrats speak of “fairness,” it means Americans and the Constitution are about to lose. From the party who has apparently elected a foreigner to the White House, in clear violation of the Constitution that they swore to uphold and support… we get another clear violation of the first amendment in the form of the return of the Fairness Doctrine. Remember, the Fairness Doctrine was abolished in 1987 because it violated the first amendment, and the decision was upheld in the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in 1993.
Constitution be damned: Barack Obama will soon control the FCC, so I am figuring that we will see action by about noon on January 21.

Damn the Torpedoes, Free Speech Ahead!
A conservative 501(c)4 group, American Issues Project (AIP) has run an attack ad against Barack Obama calling attention to Obama’s ties to unapologetic domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. Needless to say, the ad has received some heavy fire from the campaign.
Ayers, along with his future wife Bernadine Dohrn, founded the Weather Underground, a terrorist group that bombed the Capitol, the Pentagon, and numerous other buildings in the 1970’s. Dohrn, was formerly on the FBI’s 10 most-wanted list. Ayers stated their ideology was to “Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, Kill your parents.”
Ayers will not discuss his relationship with Obama. It seems their association goes far beyond the “guilt by association” Obama and his apologists proclaim. Shortly before Obama’s first election, he served as chairman of the board of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a foundation started by Ayers. There appears to be somewhat of a coverup lately, as access to documents on the foundation are repeatedly denied. (more…)

Fairness Doctrine Solution
Originally Published at Family Security Matters on 14 July, 2008
For the last year, Democrats like Representatives Louise Slaughter and Dennis Kucinich have been trying to revive the Fairness Doctrine. They are not alone. They have the support of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, along with Senators Dick Durbin, Barbara Boxer, John Kerry, and Dianne Feinstein, all of whom have come out in support of reviving the Fairness Doctrine.
What is the Fairness Doctrine? It is archaic rule that forces television and radio stations to air both sides of controversial issues. When it was enacted in the 1940’s, there were very few radio stations, so there was a threat of a media monopoly. Today, however, there are over 14,000. In addition, we can also chose from millions of satellite radio, internet radio, and television stations. With this many media outlets, the threat of a monopoly has vanished. (more…)

Hush Rush
What is going on at Capitol Hill?
Rush Limbaugh has been at or near the top of the left’s most-wanted list for some time. Recently, however, the left has kicked it up a notch on counter-Rush operations. The “phony soldier” controversy has spilled over into October and has shown little sign of slowing.
Someone saw an opportunity when Rush referred to phony soldiers on his radio program. If you care about the context (which is not a factor for organizations such as Media Matters for America) you could read in the transcripts that the phony soldiers in question were actual phonies. Not anti-war veterans as the left insists – but people who fabricated atrocities committed by U.S. troops in Iraq to support the anti-war movement. He specifically mentioned Jesse MacBeth, whose story is detailed in my last piece, Phony Soldiers.
So why create a phony scandal? There are many possibilities. The moveon.org attack ad on General Petraeus blew up in their face. The negative publicity the Democrats received needs to be countered. The counter strategy would be to make conservatives look even worse. Unfortunately, the right actually supports the troops and their mission, so that would be a tough one to pull off. Fortunately for the left, the line between the truth and a lie is wherever you need it to be to fit your agenda. (more…)
